Tino Duran, ‘fearless leader’ of ‘La Prensa’ newspaper dies – KSAT San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – Tino Duran, the former owner of San Antonio’s “La Prensa” bilingual newspaper died in his sleep Sunday, his daughter said in a Facebook post.

“I write this with a fragile heart,” Nina Duran said. “Our sweet, beautiful and loving daddy went to be with the Lord today. He passed peacefully in his sleep with my mama by his side.”

In 1989 Duran and his wife Millie “resurrected” the newspaper, which was initially established in 1913.

On Facebook, the newspaper said its “fearless leader” and “jefe” had died.

“We will always honor his legacy and heart for people,” the post said. “He loved the City of San Antonio and surely left a mark on many lives.”
