Have you seen women who always look so simple polished and graceful and sophisticated all at the same time? Their style is so ingenious and flows effortlessly. They have mastered how to keep it classy and elegant. The secret emanates from the points below

1. Know your body type

The three main body types are Apple, Pear, and hourglass. Apples tend to have broader shoulders, b bust, and narrow hips. Pears have wide hips and very narrow shoulders and a small waist, and bust area. Hourglass shaped women have balanced hips and bust and a narrow waist.

Knowing where you belong will help you know the right fit for your shape and also what complements you more.

2. Identify colours that complement your complexion

If you are light complexioned, most colours will suit you, especially dark and dull colours. Avoid colours that make you look like a florescent bulb. If your complexion is dark, bright colours will complement you more. But then again confidence also plays a big role on the choice of colours. Remember the goal is to keep it simple, neat and classy.

3. Go minimal on makeup and accessories

Make up and accessories can either kill or make a look. Too much makeup is a turn off and you end up looking like a clown. Makeup is meant to compliment you. Avoid too much makeup and also gravitate towards more natural tones.

Keep the accessories simple, it could be a handbag, small earnings or a classy simple chain.

4. Comfort must be a priority

This applies mostly to your choice of shoes and also the fitting of your outfit. Wear shoes that are not too high or tight. If they must be high ensuring you can manage to comfortably walk with them to avoid struggling as you walk. Outfits shouldn’t be too snug or short. Avoid situations where you pull your dress downwards as you walk because it is too short.

Cheers to a classy and elegant style. Wanjiru Kariuki.
