Fashion File: Bloomin’ wonders – OCRegister

As the mercury rises, flowers continue to bloom, at least when it comes to fashion. From accessories to fragrances, petal power is still quite en vogue. As an example, Elisabetta Perris, creative director of House of Houbigant, recently unveiled her latest creation at Neiman Marcus, Fashion Island. The scent evokes a stroll through a sunny meadow and reminds us that nature’s bounty flourishes around us.

Coach Totally Customized

When Stuart Vevers took the reins as executive creative director at Coach in 2013, the fashion community took notice. Revamping the 75-year-old brand, which became synonymous with midmarket fashion in the early aughts thanks to the success of its monogrammed canvas bags, meant Vevers needed to delve deep into the iconic designs that first made Coach bags a must-have accessory.

In July, South Coast Plaza will unveil The Coach House. The third of its kind in the world, the South Coast Plaza store is the first in California to offer this exclusive service.

The interactive concept brings clients directly into the design process. Each purse begins with the classic Rogue frame, but clients customize by choosing from three handbag sizes. Then, on to the leather. Pebbled or matte? Electric pink or staid black? Handles can be stitched from leather or constructed with exotic skins such as crocodile. Coach’s design team says there are more than a million possible combinations. These bags are far from impulse purchases, since each Rogue takes six weeks to construct. Once your one-of-a-kind bag arrives, there’s time for one last touch. Don’t forget to add your initials or a quirky embellishment such as a bolt of lightning, playful skull or emoji.
